RE: Do Airstreams really tow better..?

I know that Airstreams are easy to tow because we have one. I have never towed any other brand.Tractor trailer trucks have no effect when passing. As slowwolf suggested, go to Airforums.com. Lots of information about everything Airstream.

RE: TC in Oasis RV Park, Las Vegas??

I am sorry that Boundertom had a bad experience at Oasis. We were there for four days last year and loved it. Had a beautiful shaded, landscaped site. They do have different types of sites available and I don't know what we paid. You could call about the TC.

RE: Suburban 2500 - new or what?

We had an '05 Suburban 2500 8.1 and traded for an '05 Avalanche 2500 8.1. We are very happy with the Avalanche. I did not want a pick-up either, so we started with the Surburban, but then decided to get the Avalanche with bed slide to have the bed for storage and especially a generator. But, with the bed slide the generator won't fit. We'll keep the slide and skip the generator for now. The passenger portion is the same in the Suburban and the Avalanche until you get behind the second row in the Av. Then the bed portion starts. It has On Star and we used it once and now would like to never have another vehicle without it. I don't know if '05 or '06 was the last year that the 8.1 Avalanche and Suburban were made, but neither is made now.

RE: Airstream Dealers

We bought our Airstream tt from Colonial Airstream in Lakewood, NJ. They have the best web site with about 10 pictures of every Airstream they have for sale. They are either the largest or second largest AS dealer in the US. We drove from Florida to NJ to trade our 23' for a 25'. The prices on the web site were, and I assume still are, negotiable. If you haven't already, you might want to check out airforums.com . All about Airstreams! Pat

RE: Beverly Beach Camping

We have been staying at Beverly Beach for the past 25 years, and it is one of my favorite places. The places are very, very tight, but most people sit between the back or front of their rv and the seawall. If you don't park too close, you can put chairs there and you are in the shade for the afternoon sun. They have gates to go thru to walk your dogs, so I try to get a spot fairly close to the gates or the main entrance. It is quite expensive, especially on holidays, but it is beachfront camping at its best. You are up on a 10ft. seawall, but there are stairs to the beach.

RE: Survey: Who's getting an iPhone 3G friday?

I have an original iPhone and love it. I can surf the web, either by dial-up or wifi which I love when I spend a lot of time waiting for appointments. From what I know about the new iPhone, I probably won't be getting one, because I am happy with the one I have. I will skip this upgrade and maybe the next, before I get a new phone.

RE: new shade for entry door

That not only looks nice, but solves two problems, lack of insulation and light. Good idea! Thanks for posting pictures.

RE: brake lights don't work on tow (2008 chevrolet avalanche)

Chevyavalanchefanclub.com The above site has a great forum. If you don't get it fixed on this forum, you might try the Avalanche forum. The members there have been very helpful with questions about our Avalanche.

RE: A better way to direct TV

We have had Directv for a year, and have found their customer service to be very helpful. I had a hard time getting the signal in the rv, and they had lots of patience with me. Turned out the "garage sale" dish or LNB (LBN?) did not work. Bought a new set-up and received Directv with no further problems.

RE: If Price Didn't Matter, What Trailer Would You Buy?

For my husband and I, we would want just what we have, a 25' FB Airstream. With the bed of our Avalanche, and the storage in the AS, we have plenty of room for everything.

RE: EZ Snap window cover

I have the EZSnap mesh on the windows of our Airstream now. I cut small pieces of the mesh and reinforced the four spots on each covering where I put the velcro. I bought some "decorator" velcro that has sticky on one back of velcro and a non-sticky back on the other piece so I can sew thru without the needle getting all messed up. They look quite nice, if I do say so. No hemming was necessary. I have enough left over and plan on putting snaps on it and using over the tires. I may have to replace a stick on piece of velcro as the heat might cause it to loosen, but it has been 90' and so far so good.

RE: Alternative decor?

You might want to take a look at Colonial Airstream's website. They have hundreds of pictures of the interiors of different models of Airstreams, and there are several different interior styles of decorations, other than the one you have shown. Airstreams may seem pricey, but you generally don't pay list price, and there are many used Airstreams for sale because people trade for a larger, smaller or different model Airstream. We kept one 2007 for only three months before we traded for a slightly larger 2007. .

RE: Directv web site help

I can't get the setup with zip to show on screen until the dish is pointed somewhat in the right direction. By looking up where to aim the dish before I try to set up the dish is best, so far, for me.

RE: campground voltage cheking

I don't think you are "too paranoid". We burned out a capacitor last July because of low voltage in campgrounds. The air conditioner "struggled" because of the low voltage. I bought a voltage meter that was about $60 and now check power when using air conditioner. Also, I don't use the microwave or blow dryer with the air conditioner on.

RE: Directv web site help

Perfect! Thanks so much. I had searched for many words, but not elevation. We are going to a heavily wooded park next week that doesn't have wifi or cable, so I am trying to get all this figured out ahead of time. Pat
